Choosing the right entry configuration is the most important decision when buying a wheelchair van.
Side-Entry Vans use a ramp or lift that deploys from the sliding door on the passenger side. The wheelchair user enters and positions in the front or rear of the vehicle. Side-entry vans are ideal for users who want to sit in the front as the driver or front-seat passenger, and for vehicles parked in standard spaces without extra clearance behind.
Rear-Entry Vans use a ramp that deploys from the rear hatch. The wheelchair user enters and remains positioned at the back. Rear-entry conversions typically cost less and require no floor lowering, making them a popular choice for caregivers who transfer patients.
