    Harmar Pinnacle Premium SL600 Manual

    Harmar owner documentation

Count the beeps. The SL600 tells you what is wrong.

The current owner’s manual for the Harmar Pinnacle Premium SL600 stairlift, hosted here so you are not hunting a dealer portal for it. Below is the fault chart, what the armrest light means, and how to get someone off the lift if it stops mid-flight.

    The short version

    • Weight capacity350 lb
    • Seat swivelUp to 85°, with a latch at 45°
    • One short beepHit an obstruction — clear it
    • Manual override1/4″ or 7 mm socket, model depending

    Why is my SL600 beeping?

Note that three different beeps mean three completely different things, and telling them apart saves you a service call.

One short beep while you are moving

The lift has touched something on the stairs. Clear whatever is in the way and carry on, because nothing has actually failed.

Intermittent beeping while parked at the charge station

The lift is sitting on the charge strip but the power supply is not getting mains power. So check the charger connection, then confirm the outlet is live. This one is worth checking before you call anyone, because a switched outlet or a tripped breaker looks exactly like a dead stairlift.

    A repeating pattern of beeps

That is a major fault, and the number of beeps in the pattern identifies it. Count them.

    BeepsWhat the lift has detected
    1Runaway
    2No power
3Footrest up and footrest down switches conflicting
4Obstruction up and obstruction down switches conflicting
5Footrest down and obstruction up conflicting
6Footrest up and obstruction down conflicting
7Both stop switches reading as triggered at once
8Neither stop switch reading at all

Meanwhile, codes 3 through 8 are all the same family of problem: two safety switches are telling the controller contradictory things, so it refuses to move. Therefore that is usually a sensor or wiring fault rather than anything you can clear yourself.

    One long beep

That is a minor fault, and it clears itself once the cause is gone. The manual lists five: the seat swivelled out of its riding position, the edge safety triggering, a footrest fault, a current overload, and low battery voltage. However, check the seat sits square to the stairs first, because that trips the fault far more often than the other four.

What the light on the armrest is telling you

    LightMeaning
GreenReady to run in either direction
    AmberTouching an obstruction
Flashing amberParked off the charge strip. Beeps for 30 seconds and repeats every 5 minutes until you move it back
RedFault. Switch the lift off and back on once; if it stays red it needs a service call

The flashing amber is a reminder, not a fault. However, if you leave the chair parked mid-rail, it will not charge, and therefore the batteries flatten over a few days. Park it on the charge strip every time and the nagging stops.

If the lift stops with someone on it

There is a manual override that lets you wind the carriage to a landing. Depending on your model it takes either a 1/4″ or a 7 mm socket and wrench, and you will find the instructions on the safety flap underneath the lift itself. However, switch the lift off before you start.

Also, keep the right socket near the stairs rather than in the garage. The one time you need it, you will not want to be hunting for it.
