Why does it beep when I turn the seat at the top?
Every Bruno stairlift leaves the factory in multi-user mode. In that mode, swivelling the seat at the top landing sets off a beep — it is there to warn a second user that the seat has been left turned away from the rail rather than parked square and ready.
Rotate the seat back until it clicks and locks into the riding position and the beeping stops. If you are the only person who uses the lift, the beep is just noise: your Bruno dealer can switch the lift into single-user mode and disable it entirely. It is a settings change, not a part.
A continuous beep with a flashing yellow light is also normal. On lifts with a folding rail, that combination sounds the whole time the rail is moving, to warn anyone standing at the bottom of the stairs. It stops when the rail finishes travelling.
The lift is running slowly, or will go down but not up
That is the classic low-battery signature, and the asymmetry is the clue — gravity helps on the way down, so a partially charged pack manages the descent and gives up on the climb. It is not a motor problem.
Check the light on the charger. Yellow or green means it is charging. Anything else, or no light at all, and the charger or the supply to it is the thing to look at. If the batteries are charging properly and the lift still crawls, the pack has aged out and needs replacing — a routine job, and far cheaper than the alternatives people fear.
Check the circuit breaker before you call anyone
There is a circuit breaker on the carriage that protects the battery, controller and motor. It should not trip in normal use, so if the lift is completely unresponsive, that breaker is the first thing to look at — reset it if it has gone.
Worth knowing why it tripped, though, because a breaker that trips twice is telling you something. The manual points at two causes: something jamming the rail or the gear rack, and running the lift over its rated weight. Have a look along the rail for a stray object before you reset it a second time.
Power cuts
The Elite runs on batteries, so it keeps working through a power cut — how long depends on the state of the batteries, the length of the stairs and the weight of the rider. If the outage looks like a long one, switch the lift off at the carriage and unplug the charger to stop the pack draining, then charge it properly once the power is back.
