Adventures Out West has offered Jeep tours in Colorado Springs since 1973. The company now promotes the City’s first-ever Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant Jeep tours. These tours are fully wheelchair accessible.

“Whether you’re deaf, you’re blind or you’re in a wheelchair, we want you to be able to come to Adventures Out West and experience everything that we offer no matter any type of disabilities or any disadvantages that you may have,” stated Scott Graham, Director of Operations at AOW.
To begin with, a custom lift and ramp give guests smooth, safe access to the Jeep. Hooks in the back corners keep wheelchairs secure. They hold firm even on bumpy dirt roads.
According to Graham, AOW custom-built the Jeep to integrate every ADA compliant element. The crew finished the paint job. They also added suspension components, better wheels, a ramp, and a lift.
“I was surprised and very happy to find out that there’s this service…,” said Alice Zhang, a tour guest. She added, “I really appreciate all the efforts to make everything as accessible… to include people with disabilities to be part of nature just like everyone else and have fun.”
Zhang also said her experience was easy and hassle-free. It made for an unforgettable adventure.
“If you are disabled and you want to have a Colorado adventure, call us up!” stated Graham. “We want to make it happen.”
Eventually, AOW plans to add a second wheelchair accessible Jeep. It should arrive sometime next year. For now, guests can explore the company’s other ADA compliant services, such as the Trolley and Shuttle tours.
